At Kawamata Tagawa Coal Mine Site in the south of Japan, various people come together to work and talk about art and coalmining, and about the influence of closed mines on economy and social situation. Kawamata developed this site to reanimate the discussion, and invited artists to work with local people. I made a workshop wit 2 small groups of students. Each group did a walk through the town of Tagawa, telling a story with their photo’s. Afterwards we discussed the results and the working process.
